What to Post on Instagram | Instagram's Secret Inspiration Feature | sweatywisdom.com | Instagram tips Social Media for Small Business

Are you running dry on ideas of things to post your Instagram feed? It can happen super easily, especially if you're trying to keep up with some sort of frequent posting schedule. If you're opening your Instagram app and feeling like you're just hearing birds chirping in your head or you’re completely out of ideas, this is an easy feature you can use to get you inspired quickly.

We all spend more time than we'd like to admit on Instagram, right?

What are we doing most of that time? While I don’t know about you, but for me, most of that time is scroll, scroll, scrolling (or, as I like to call it, phone out zone out time).

It’s that time when you're just scrolling through Instagram and double tapping every now and then. Your brain is half turned on, half turned off. You're in a trance-like state. It’s not ideal, but let’s be real… we all do it.

What If you could make that phone out zone out time actionable? To make it benefit your business, to benefit your account and to serve as a place to store your ideas?

How to come up with Instagram ideas when you’re stuck:

  1. Open Instagram. Duh.

  2. Go to your account and tap the three little horizontal lines in the upper right hand corner.

  3. When you do that, you're going to get a sidebar. At the very, very bottom, click settings. You're going to go ahead and click on settings.

  4. Scroll down to the Options category. Under options, click on “posts you’ve liked”.

  5. Now that you're in posts that you've liked, you're going to see, guess what, posts that you've liked!

  6. View it in the grid format so you can see as many at one time as possible.

  7. When you scroll through, begin to look for common themes.

  8. What are things that you’ve seen that you’re engaging with? If something was intriguing enough for you to engage with it, it's pretty indicative that your audience might enjoy it as well.

Use this as intel when crafting your next post!

Did the call-to-action on a post entice you to comment?

Did an imperfect, regular old selfie make you feel closer to an account spreading a humanizing message?

Maybe a quote got you fired up?

If something inspired you to engage, chances are it will do the same for your audience.

The next time you feel dried up and out of ideas, check back to the “Posts You’ve Liked” feature and get inspired!

It’s all about getting intentional so you can work smarter, not harder. The end goal is to have successful social that doesn’t suck up all your time and attention.
