How to Turn Off Your Activity Status on Instagram: 2018 New Feature – Instagram tips - Instagram for Business – How to Use Instagram – Social Media - sweatywisdom.com

I don't know about you, but I certainly do not want anyone knowing how much time I spend on Instagram because #spoileralert, it's a way more than it should be. Maybe you log on in the middle of the night when you wake up (guilty) or find yourself mindless scrolling for hours on end (double guilty). Whatever your reason, it's nice to have some privacy, right? There hasn’t been a ton of people talking about this feature, which really surprises me because, to me, it’s really important to have this turned off. Today I'm going to show you exactly how to turn off your activity status on Instagram.

First, I want to show you exactly where this is.

  1. Open your Instagram app.

  2. Head to direct messages.

  3. As you scroll down, look for a little green “active” circle next to certain users. See it? If not, be sure to check out my video by clicking here.

  4. For some of these, you’ll see active one hour ago or active yesterday.

Basically, it's just allowing people to know exactly the last time you were on Instagram.

Feels kind of creepy, right? Luckily, it's super easy and quick to turn it off. Here's how.

  2. Click the hamburger (three stacked horizontal lines) in the upper right-hand corner.
  3. Select settings from the very bottom.
  4. Scroll all the way down until you see “Activity Status” under Privacy and Security.
  5. Click activity status and switch the toggle to off (the blue will be light grey when it is off).

Now, you are totally in the clear. Scroll on, my friend! You can hang out on Instagram all you want and no one's going to know about it.
